The issue is that this is a non-existent problem. No one peeling this argument has managed to provide an example of an abusive man following his victim to a domestic abuse shelter and then claiming to be trans to access that space.
I also imagine that it wouldn’t be too hard to deal with if it did occur. Let’s imagine the same scenario among a lesbian couple. When the abusive partner tried to gain access, the abused partner would simply let staff know that was her abusive partner and they would tell the other person that they can’t stay there and redirect them to other services.
The insertion of trans people into this situation is facile and bigoted.
There are examples of sex offenders then pretending to be trans to be put in a women’s prison though. There was a famous example of that in Scotland recently.
All because they could just “self-identify” and apparently that was good enough for him to be moved to a women’s prison. Absolute insanity.
