I would greatly prefer public sector development. I’m just being fatalistic about how our oligarchy conducts itself.
A loom that learned to weave itself.

I like democracy, but I don’t like our short-sighted (4-8 year) election-campaign-based governing. But between our public and private sectors I know we can meet this challenge and make this happen.
Man, I wish we (Canada) were that ambitious. I know lemmy hates Elon Musk but I really admire his ambition in technical pursuits. I’m not saying we need more Elon Musks, but we should pursue more grand projects.
I think most of us have a good idea of the benefits and drawbacks of Linux/Windows/Apple.
I have a Windows machine for media production, because Linux doesn’t support all the software I need for media production. I use Linux for absolutely everything else, because it’s better for literally everything else. In truth, a MacBook Pro would be better for media production but they’re too expensive.
I’m quoting OP’s summary (or quote). I’m implying that Microsoft is hostile to Linux installations generally.
“wasn’t supposed to”
I did actually read the article and I did not miss the point even a little bit.
yeah a lot of their stuff is junk
My T16 is fantastic. I wish it were more moddable, but it’s an amazing machine. Extremely quiet and powerful, I love the 16:10 screen. They keyboard is amazing too. Framework also has 16:10 screens and they’re more moddable, but I doubt their keyboards are any good. And as a profitable company they should pay people for advertising and data collection.
a cause they beleive in
profitable companies are causes now
Profitable companies don’t get to have “volunteers.” Non-profits and charities get to have those. This is data collection for product development, and advertising for products.
This is a reason for me to not buy a Framework laptop.
They closed it to new comments.
People who feel they need to have their travel, hotel, event fees, etc. compensated are not a good fit for this program.
So “NO POOR PEOPLE.”
I disliked Framework ever since their “fans” (paid trolls) started bombarding every Thinkpad post on reddit with “frAmEwoRk iS tHe neW tHinKpaD” replies. Normally I support the little guy, but I really hope Lenovo creates their own modular laptop so I can buy one of them instead.
A) I never heard about it before right now
B) Now I’ve only heard about it through an ad a post whose title looks exactly like an ad, so I’m negatively predisposed to it. But I guess any publicity is good publicity.
Reaper is awesome.
Not if I completely stop using Google search.
I still want to know exactly what they’re talking about. But since they didn’t respond I assume they’re going on about nothing.
What was the nature of this hate speech? I don’t want to get involved with nazis.
I love kbin, never heard of mbin. Would you recommend mbin over kbin?
God, they’re poison. I literally paid for Windows.
Oh nice, fellow Canadians doing the good work.
