The big thing that actually defines FSR2 is that it has access to a bunch more data, particularly the depth buffer, motion vectors, and also, as you said, uses data from previous frames.

The camera jiggle is mostly just to avoid shimmering when the camera is stationary.

That’s always been their plan, but it’s getting hit with Valve Time. My guess is that they won’t do it until all issues the major with NVIDIA GPUs have been fixed, as a public build that doesn’t run properly on a majority of machines wouldn’t go well. The latest driver is pretty good, but the Big Picture mode is still pretty much unusable.

At the very least they’re currently trying to bring official support over to other handhelds, as they’ve already confirmed that they want to official support for the ROG Ally and pushed out a update to SteamOS for the controller support.

That, and monitor/TV size increased a lot at the time when flat panels became a thing, so you need a higher resolution just to achieve the same pixel density you already had on a smaller screen.

On the other hand, the time spent uploading/downloading much smaller files probably more than makes up for that, although even that difference might get pretty small with modern internet connections.

As much as I’d like to see this game preserved, I don’t think the dev can be held responsible when they’re refunding everyone who purchased the game.

Without background information that sounds kind of insane. Switching to alternative time tracking software and getting YubiKeys or alternatives instead for 2FA would’ve saved so much money as well as time every day.

Even further, there’s also a clean split between the game and the framework they’ve built for it. So people can actually build their own games or tools using the osu!framework, and some already did so.

Which is neat, because it seems to me like it’s really performant and of course, low-latency, based on what I’ve seen trying the new client.

Looking at this map there seems to be at least some correlation. There really needs to be popular advocates for each language and country, particularly for the smaller ones and those with a low english speaking population.

Agree. I don’t know this person, but at best he didn’t understand the campaign and also overdosed on defeatism. At worst he’s intentionally misrepresenting the campaign and lobbying against better consumer rights.

Technically you can do everything through email, because everything online can be represented as text. Doesn’t mean you should.

PRs also aren’t just a simple back and forth anymore: Tagging, Assignees, inline reviews, CI with checks, progress tracking, and yes, reactions. Sure, you can kinda hack all of that into a mailing list but at that point it’s becoming really clunky and abuses email even more for something it was never meant to handle. Having a purpose-built interface for that is just so much nicer.

I wouldn’t agree either, but I think there’s some kind of logic: At a certain point familiarity can be a detriment to learning if it leads to you adding invalid assumptions to your mental model because everything else is so familiar. If everything is unfamiliar however you’re less likely to start making assumptions.

As for how true of effective this is, I don’t know. Anecdotally however I had less problems learning entirely different keyboard layouts for example as opposed to layouts that are just slightly different.

I’m sorry to be blunt, but mailing lists just suck for group conversations and are a crutch that only gained popularity due to the lack of better alternatives at the time. While the current solutions also come with their own unique set of drawbacks, it’s undeniable that the majority clearly prefers them and wouldn’t want to go back. There’s a reason why almost everyone switched over.

I’d guess because the same argument could be made for the website you’re on right now. Why use that when we could just use mailing lists instead?

More specifically: Sure, Git is decentral at its core, but all the tooling that has been built around it, like issue tracking, is not. Suggesting to go back to email, even if some projects still use it, isn’t the way to go forward.

It was the early days of homebrew when there wasn’t much information out there and the tools were much less advanced. I didn’t really care about the risk either, so it could’ve been anything. I wasn’t immediately banned either. Took about half a year or so.

But yeah, emulation can pretty run all the relevant titles, meaning the exclusives, much better than the Switch itself.

Yeah, I pretty much hopped on it as soon as it was hacked so there wasn’t much knowledge of what could lead to bans. Granted, at that point I was already a bit dissatisfied with the Switch, so I went in fully aware of the risks and not really being afraid of the risk. I even had a preorder running that I got locked out of, though luckily enough, that got a PC port not soon after.

It was similar for me, except that Nintendo made the decision for me by prevening me from purchasing (or downloading) any game from the eShop. Of course, it wasn’t entirely unexpected to get banned since I also hacked mine in order to dump my games and transfer saves for games I owned on PC and Switch.

Still, since Nintendo apparently didn’t want to have a customer and the SteamDeck was announced shortly after I jumped ship day one and only turned the Switch on once again to transfer my saves back.

From my experience there’s this weird subset of people who don’t like newer Windows versions, which is fair enough, but instead of learning to modify those or learning Linux, they believe they can turn back time, which isn’t something you can just do when connecting it to the ever forward-marching internet.

Yup. I’ve never done anything besides installing NVIDIA drivers. Just switching the cable of the secondary monitor to the motherboard ports and it just worked. No reboot even, just making sure that adaptive sync is enabled in KDE or wherever.

VRR does not work if you have a NVIDIA card and more than one monitor enabled.

I recently learned that’s not entirely correct for Wayland. The critical thing is that VRR stops working if more than one enabled monitor is connected to the NVIDIA GPU. Meaning that if you connect only one display to the NVIDIA GPU and the other monitors to the integrated GPU it should just work.

I felt pretty stupid when I realized that I could’ve just switched a single cable and be using VRR way earlier. Didn’t even need a reboot to work. For reference, I’m using a NVIDIA GPU + AMD CPU with 1 G-Sync as my main monitor and one non-VRR as my secondary monitor.
