Technology@beehaw.org•AI hallucinations are getting worse – and they're here to stay
9·6 months agoThey don’t think. They use statistical models on massive data sets to achieve the statistically average result from the data set.
In order to have increased creativity, you need to increase the likelihood of it randomly inserting things outside that result: hallucinations.
You cannot have a creative “AI” without them with the current fundamental design.

Politics@beehaw.org•Donald Trump to ‘kick all 15,000 transgender soldiers out of the US Army’
13·1 year agoIf you believe what Musk is saying, some of the things his “2 trillion savings” pretty much has to cut is VA, Disability benefits and Unemployment. Most of the rest of the budget is stuff that has forever been used to maintain false GOP support in poorer states.
Of course, the lion’s share of that number is that his PAC Actually Said he would stop debt payments, which would immediately lead to a world catastrophe, also would need all of Congress and Senate to roll over and play dead so that number is hopefully complete bunk.

Technology@lemmy.ml•"participants who had access to an AI assistant wrote significantly less secure code" and "were also more likely to believe they wrote secure code" - 2023 Stanford University study published at CCS23
251·1 year agoNo. I would suggest you actually read the study.
The problem that the study reveals is that people who use AI-generated code as a rule don’t understand it and aren’t capable of debugging it. As a result, bigger LLMs will not change that.

Yes* *Sadly, the US Supreme Court started last summer that anything the president does in an official capacity while president is legal.
