Oooo nice! My partner has the best machine in the house now, since they always got my hand-me-downs and never a brand new machine. We built it about a year ago, so it’s got a 12600k, 32GB RAM, a 3070, 3TB SSD space, and 4TB HDD. Mine’s not terribly far from that, but I am a little envious hahaha

Nahhh thank you, hahaha. My other machines are Linux, we just keep our high end gaming machines on Windows. That older computer with the 4670k is getting Pop! OS when I get around to it.

Oh and I should specify my old guest machine does have 16GB of RAM, solid state drives, and an RTX2070, so it’s probably a bit better equipped than school machines hahaha

Ugh I would love to switch solely to Linux but I have ONE GAME that I play online with friends that’s an incredibly ridiculous install process and it is impossible to run on Linux without issues. It’s amazing that it even runs on Windows nowadays. (The Specialists, a mod for the original Half Life.)

Buuuut my guest gaming machine is a 4670k machine and I can confirm that not only does Windows 10 run very smoothly on it, but it also runs most modern games at 60+FPS! CPU-bound games can struggle. We finally got my partner a new computer and made that one the guest machine when Persona 5 went from 80FPS down to 5FPS when they got off the train hahaha

These are amazing.

Update: 15ish hours in, I’m voicing like four characters and my partner is voicing all of the others. We are absolutely loving it so far. Thank you for the recco!

Oh my gawd the person who did the commercials for that, Davyforce, is one of my favorite creators ever. He made the movie “Not4Sale: TV Sheroff and the Trailbuddies” and it’s one of my favorite movies ever. Every time I trip with someone new for the first time, I put it on without explaining anything. 100% success rate of laughing until we cry.

That makes sense! If I ever used my switch undocked, I would maybe consider it. But 100% of the time I played it docked. My place of comfort is the room with my computer and some screens and the comfiest furniture. I don’t hang out anywhere else in my house and I’m a homebody, so I’m not gonna bring it anywhere.

If I’m gonna dock a Steamdeck, I might as well just use my dope computer!

I understand, but I can use my desktop from the place I relax, in addition to my desk chair! I can play stuff from relaxation station with zero effort. I’ve only ever used my switch docked (and now I just emulate it for better performance.)

I’ve never personally had an issue booting up my dope rig to play Stardew Valley or Vampire Survivors!

Thank you! I think I’m gonna ride Win10 until it’s Jo longer supported, then go Win10 LTSC IoT until I’m comfortable switching all of my machines to Pop!. I play a VERY SPECIFIC 20+ year old Half Life mod with some folks that my Software Engineer friend has been unable to get working on Linux in any manner… so unfortunately I am tied to Windows. I could dual-boot but I don’t want any boot loader headaches, and our main machines exist pretty much solely to play games hahaha. I do debloat with OOSU10, I’ll scope Titus’s tool!

Hell yeah! That sounds dope! I have computers connected to all of my screen in our house, but they’re moooostly running Windows 10. Just a couple pis running Linux… the GUI on a Pi5 is laggy but it runs 1080p YouTube perfectly so that’s fine. I should start converting my machines to Linux… my main game machines I think I’ll keep on Windows 10 until Linux is closer to 100% compatibility. It’s getting there!

That is an awesome feature! I don’t find myself playing short sessions nowadays. That would be super useful if I did though!
