When I was still using Reddit, it looked like most people in that community were just running personal home media servers using basic as fuck raspberry pi setups or just old hardware that could handle it, like maybe a modded Xbox or something.

Here on Lemmy, it looks more like you’re all actual networking specialists hosting damn near everything from home automation to business-level server systems for your home business. You guys are serious; Reddit isn’t. Respect.

Isn’t that generally how Valve operates on the whole anyway? They don’t set out to make products; they just do what they want and if they actually finish it, they sell it.

Adding data caps reduces the total data volume, which in turn statistically reduces the average bandwidth used by all subscribers together (or whatever subset shares a connection).

I would like to know how you figure that load of horseshit. The average customer never even hits the data cap, so it’s not like it’s just cutting people off so others can get on.

What choice? Most of the country is stuck with whatever singular entity controls the network in your city. Very few places have any choice about what service they get. And they all have data caps unless you’re a qualified business.

Limiting how much I can pull at a time (bandwidth) makes sense; limiting how much I can use in total is bullshit. It’s not like it can run out.

The “you died” text on it makes me wonder if it was some kind of special Dark Souls thing. But I don’t remember any special Dark Souls release on Xbox.

It could have been custom made back when they were doing that if you bought directly from MS. Not sure if they still do that, but I rememeber it being a thing back in, I think, the XB360 days.

It would be rad af if you could not only run Doom off of one of these (because they already run on Windows so it’s probably easy as hell to run Doom on it), but also somehow get the scanner part to use its laser to make one of those holographic keyboards to actually play Doom on it without any external devices.

To be fair, GTA also isn’t the size of Earth while using extremely high resolution satellite images as textures.

I think I also have that because It Takes Two came in a bundle with it.

I’ve always found them to be kinda cool, but, like… I can type in a url faster than getting out a camera and getting it to scan most of the time. Especially when they’re using a shortener to have a URL that’s literally just 4 characters long. So I pretty much never actually do anything with QR codes.

They can be used for more than just a website, but I’ve never seen one that does anything but act as a link. Can’t you fit, like, a small image in one? Rickroll someone with just Astley’s face instead of going to the YouTube link?

Can’t wait to find someone who will play It Takes Two with me. As the name suggests, it takes two people to play and I am but one person. :(

It’s not the back that bothers me, it’s the feeling of something on my head. I don’t like wearing glasses or masks (I still do when necessary; but it irritates me) either. Just thinking about it is making my ears hot rn.

I would probably prefer headphones if I could stand wearing things on my ears longer than 30 minutes. Even if they’re super comfortable and don’t squeeze my ears, after a bit they start feeling hella hot and like they’re being squeezed. The audio quality is better and easier to hear, but I’m way more comfortable physically using speakers.
