  • “because it validates his assertion that American democracy is a sham—that there is no democracy. All that matters is power and self-interest. The rest is sanctimony and hypocrisy.”

…I mean… Is he that wrong? We vote for who the donor/ownership class allow us to vote for. Anyone else doesn’t even show up on the radar. There was an actual socialist candidate, literally the only place they ever showed up in “the news” was here on Lemmy. People are only exposed to those that will play ball with the ownership class.

Once someone like Bernie Sanders showed to be gaining in popularity during the primaries leading up to 2016 so-called “liberal left wing” MSNBC started running “Bernie loves Castro, Bernie loves communism!” stories to scare people into choosing someone else. One chucklefuck on MSNBC went as far as to say if Bernie was elected people “like him” (the wealthy news propagandist) would be put up against the wall, invoking the idea of authoritarian regimes and firing squads…

  • I can’t really speak to Europe in particular as I’m an American and mainly understand American issues, but from the bits that I’ve seen it seems like Russia has been trying to influence the politicians of any country that “dares” to interfere with their intentions.

I would not be the slightest bit surprised to find European NATO countries have their own Russia manipulated politicians either willingly or unknowingly fighting against the release of weapons/money to Ukraine. On the opposite side we in America have a gigantic lobby that is solely focused on helping Israel, again I would not be the slightest bit surprised to find they too are operating in other countries that would help them (not necessarily a bad thing in concept, any country would want to have a lobby to petition other governments to help them. I’m not trying to be antisemitic or anything)

There is also the concept that Isreal helps as a “stabilizer” for the middle east. That’s the geopolitics argument, I’m not smart enough to know whether that actually works as intended or not.

  • To be honest I just see people commenting here and there that xyz game didn’t work for them and they have to jump through a bunch of hoops for what does work that I just write Linux off for now.

That and I tend to like to check out early access games (cough star citizen cough) so I just dont want to limit myself just to give Mi€ro$oft the finger.

Also, (see early access comment) I’m kind of impatient so even though I’m pretty capable, the last thing I want to do is have to be an IT guy for my PC every time something doesn’t work lol windows is pretty good in that respect.
