Oh… Now that you mention the shop, you’re right. Mine would freeze up too. I stopped using it, which is why I forgot about it.

Pop setup it also mostly just works. There are occasional freezes that require a restart and such

Weird. I used Pop for 3-4 years and not once did it freeze, stutter, or require a restart that wasn’t related to an update.

I requested a Windows machine at work a few years ago, because the specs were amazing, and I was getting frustrated with Mac OS. After using the Windows machine for a couple days I was reminded why I don’t like Windows anymore, and returned the machine, despite its amazing specs. It just wasn’t worth it.

What ever happened to Open Office? That used to be the defacto replacement to Microsoft Office. I haven’t used office tools on a personal computer in over a decade though, so I’m very out of the loop there.

That website is complete trash. It won’t even scroll for me. It just shows the badge and that’s all. This is what happens when they’re constantly trying to enforce specific user actions rather than just building a working website.

From the little research I’ve done, I don’t think that I want an immutable OS. Sure, I only want to use it as a HTPC today, but what about tomorrow when I find some obscure thing I need to do that requires me to change some things?

You have me curious again after hearing you’ve tried everything. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl. It’s not like I can’t switch to Arch later. It’ll be just as much of a pain in the ass later as it will sooner, and I just might find a new favorite OS. LOL. Plus, I do dig Gnome, and I think it’s probably a better DE for a HTPC than KDE.

Yes, I’m going to use it as a couch console, web browser player for MLB games, and a streaming machine. I did a bunch of reading after posting my last comment and decided that I’ll just stick with Arch. Fedora sounds alluring for the simplicity, but I think I’ll miss the AUR and the rolling release cycle too much. I finally pulled the trigger this afternoon and bought the components after looking at them in my cart on Newegg for a week straight. It should be a pretty rad system
